Maureen: Have not made decision to testify for Adheeb

Ex-secretary of former Vice President and Tourism Minister Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, Aminath Maureen has said that she has not made a decision on attending the court as a defence witness the former Vice President.

Responding to a question from Sun Media, Maureen said that she found out that she was listed as defence witness for Adheeb through the media and does not know how that took place.

The former secretary of the Vice President was named as a defence witness in the case against Adheeb in the charge of misuse of official authority to board the Presidential Launch “Finifenmaa” to plant an IED.

Her name was submitted by Adheeb to prove:

• That Adheeb asked Maureen to arrange a speedboat for his trip to Aarah on September 2015.

• That Adheeb did not ask Maureen to arrange any specific speedboat for the trip.

• That official procedure was followed in arranging a speedboat for his trip.

Aside from Maureen, 12 more names were submitted on behalf of the former Vice President at the hearing today.
