State takes custody of mentally disabled woman abandoned by family

State has taken over custody of a mentally disabled woman from G. Dh. Gaddhoo who was abandoned by her family.

“Sun” has been informed that the woman was taken to Gaddhoo Health Center on Friday.

When asked about the incident, Ministry of Gender said that they were handling such a case from G. Dh. Atoll, and were discussing with relevant authorities to solve the issue.

Gender did not reveal any details regarding the case.

Someone from Gaddhoo who spoke to “Sun” said that the woman was mentally disabled, and abandoned by her family after a domestic dispute.

The woman is 26 years old, and has three children.

Ahmed Saeed – who is in charge of running Gaddhoo Health Center – confirmed that a mentally disabled woman was brought to the center by police, on Friday.

He said that the woman’s family members were spotted from the health center.
