President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent his gratitude to the people on the warm welcome he received last night upon arrival from India after receiving the Dr. Kalam Preskar of Excellence in Governance 2016” award.
In a statement issued last night, President Abdulla Yameen said that it was “heart-warming” to return and be received with such warmth and enthusiasm.
“To be greeted by women, children and men of all ages, representing the different facets of this nation, and to be acknowledged for achievements that my administration considers to still be an ongoing effort, truly re-energised my spirits and has further hardened my resolve.” The President said in his statement.
The President said that his government will work to enhance the quality of life in the country and seek to bring more hope to every citizen. President Yameen said that the government will deliver on “the promise of economic and prosperity and pragmatic progress.”
“Your celebration of our work, which has led to this recognition, leaves me vindicated that what my team and I are working towards in terms of progress is meaningful – that it matters and is worthy of recognition because it resonates with the individual as well as our collective identity as Maldivians.” President Yameen said.
The President also thanked the Dale View Group and the people of Thiruvananthapuram, India, in his statement of gratitude, for bestowing the honor of being the first receive the award of “Dr. Kalam Puraskar for Excellence in Governance”.
“My work, as that of my administration, has always been in the service of delivering real economic progress and it was humbling to be recognised by a community much larger and diverse than us. I wish the Dale View Group, and the people of India, tremendous success; may our relationship of mutual respect and friendship continue to grow and deliver us to new heights of collaboration and cooperation.”
