President Yameen receives warm welcome upon return with award

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has received a warm welcome as he returned to the country with the “Dr. Kalam Preskar of Excellence in Governance 2016” award, which began in memory of the late Indian President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

While the President received a red carpet welcome at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), a number of people gathered at Izzuddeen Jetty in to welcome the President.

The welcome party at Izzuddeen Jetty included the high ranking officials of the government and a large number of locals.

The “Dr. Kalam Preskar of Excellence in Governance” is an annual award presented by the India’s Dale View Group of Institutions. President Yameen is the first person to receive this prestigious award.

The award was presented to President Abdulla Yameen at a special ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram, India in the category of International Excellence.

Other categories in the award are Leadership Excellence, Educational Leadership and Science Education Leadership.
