Housing: We will clear harbor cafes not vacated

Housing Ministry has said that they would start clearing harbor cafes that had not already been vacated as per their instruction, starting Wednesday.

Housing Ministry issued a statement on Wednesday, saying that the state would bear no responsibility to any damage to property that lie within harbor cafes that have not been vacated, once they start clearing them.

The ministry had ordered for harbor cafes to be vacated on February 4 and 18. And gave a final three-day warning to vacate the area last Monday.

The time period allowed for harbor café owners to voluntarily vacate the area will be up at 4 pm, this Wednesday.

Housing Ministry plans to build modern food courts, parking zones and public restrooms in the area.

The project was handed over to State Trading Organization (STO) in January.
