Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen on Wednesday, accepted the first Dr. Kalam Puraskar for Excellence in Governance award – which he won for International Excellence.
The award was conferred to him in a ceremony held at Dr. Kalam Smrithi at the Dale View, Thiruvananthapuram, India.

Dr. Kalam Puraskar is an annual award initiated by Dale View Group of Institutions of India, to commemorate India’s former President and pioneer scientist Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Additional categories the award is handed out on includes Leadership Excellence, Educational Leadership and Science Education.
Yameen left for India to accept the award on Tuesday, and was received upon arrival at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by Maldivian High Commissioner in India Ahmed Mohamed, and Maldivian Consul in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Ali Adam.
