President arrives in India to accept award

President Abdulla Yameen arrived in Thiruvananthapuram, India on Tuesday afternoon to attend the “Dr Kalam Puraskar for Excellence in Governance 2016” awarding ceremony.

It has already been announced that Yameen is to receive the Dr Kalam Smirthi International Alliance Award.

The ceremony will be held in Dr Kalam Smirthi at Dale View, Wednesday.

The event is organized by Kalam Smrithi Organization – set up by well-wishers of the late Indian president and pioneer scientist – Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.

Other categories the award is handed out on includes Leadership Excellence, Educational Leadership and Science Education.

Yameen was received upon arrival at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by Maldivian High Commissioner in India Ahmed Mohamed, and Maldivian Consul in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Ali Adam.
