The MNDF Southern Area Coastguard Squadron has been mobilized to assist a fish weigh boat from G.A. Kooddoo taking in water.
The Kooddoo boat is named “Randhi 24.” MNDF said that there were five locals and two expatriates on the boat when the incident occurred and they are all in good condition.
MNDF said that the boat started taking in water after the hull broke. And said that about a hand span was broken in the hull ahead of the engine room.
The fish boat was 24 nautical miles outside G.Dh. Fiyoari when the incident occurred.
MNDF said that the incident was reported around 10 a.m. and the Harbor Craft 109 Launch of the Southern Area Coastguard Squadron went to the scene with pumps and began controlling the water coming in.
And to assist the boat taking in water, “Randhi 23” went to the scene with tools to repair the hull.
The boat is now travelling to Kooddoo.
