Fire on a container vehicle of MPL

A vehicle of the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) used to carry cargo containers have caught fire at the MPL area at the north-west of Malé City.

Information Officer of MNDF, Major Adnaan Mohamed told Sun Media that the fire on the MPL vehicle this evening has been doused and no one was injured in the incident.

He said that the cause of the fire is yet unknown.

A witness to the incident told Sun Media that the people in the area took protective measures when smoke began to rise from the vehicle and caught fire.

“The bottom of the vehicle caught fire, believed to be some sort of rubber the fire was caught on.” A witness on scene said.
