Education Ministry said on Sunday that there was no sexual threat to students in school environment.
The insistence comes after Principal of Hiriya School, Ismail Masroof, 37, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly conversing with a student in such a way that it could encourage a sexual act.
Permanent Secretary of Education Ministry, Dr. Abdul Muhsin Mohamed told “Sun” that the government took such cases very seriously. And said that there was no sexual threat to students in Maldivian schools.
“We take immediate measures at the slightest hint of a threat. We guarantee that, god willing, our system is very efficient,” said Muhsin.
He said that such cases would continue to be taken very seriously. And that their main objective was to provide a safe, learning environment for students.
“We are always working on providing a safe environment for students to learn in. We, even now, take immediate action against individuals at the hint of slightest threat,” said Muhsin.
He insisted that Education Ministry would provide safety and protection to students.
