Action will be taken against people who spread untrue stories regarding MNDF: MNDF

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that action will be taken against groups which spread lies and create doubt in the society about MNDF.

A statement released by MNDF today says that baseless stories are being spread about MNDF regarding the events of 7 February, and that MNDF believes that such stories are based on a certain political ideology or individual idea, and that this is extremely irresponsible.

“...The government has formed a commission to investigate the events of 7 February.

However some groups are exposing information in relation to 7 February which concern MNDF, which MNDF believes are based on a certain political ideology or individual idea. It is extremely irresponsible to target such baseless stories at individual officers of MNDF.”

The statement also states that these stories, created by groups which do not have the relevant education or experience, would only harm the honour and dignity of innocent individuals.

MNDF reassured their loyalty to the government, their belief in Islam and dedication to defending the nation and its people.

“MNDF is concerned and condemns the attempts by groups with a particular political view, to create hatred towards MNDF by spreading baseless stories in the society,” reads the statement.

They confirmed their readiness to take whatever action necessary to defend the nation.
