President Yameen’s account details shared with ACC

Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has shared the account details of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for one of their investigations.

After the President requested that his account details be shared with the ACC, the bank shared the details last week.

Vice President of ACC, Muaviz Rasheed told Sun Media today that MIB is cooperating with the ACC investigation and no more details can be shared on the investigation.

MIB said that they cannot comment on it.

The bank first refused to cooperate with the ACC and took the case to the Civil Court. MIB said that the decision was made then to see the regulations for such matters.

While investigations have revealed that MVR 1.22 billion from Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) ended up in private accounts, oppositions have accused that some of it is in the accounts of President Abdulla Yameen.
