Ibu: Ready for talks, but need sincerity

Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) has said that MDP is ready for the multi-party talks with the government but they want sincerity from both sides.

Debating at the Parliament today, Ibu said that the government has to listen to MDP since they are the minority party at the Parliament.

“If not listening to the minority, discussions won’t resolve things. In a democracy, majority and minority have to be listened to. With the participation of all, we can go forward.” Ibu said.

He said that being strict cannot resolve the problem and highlighting that it is having a negative effect; Ibu said that MDP is ready to go to the discussions.

Ibu said that MDP is a party that works to resolve issues through talks and has been working so up to this point.

“We welcome it (the talks). We are, to resolve things through discussions, ready to go to the table of discussion. But sincerity must be seen from all sides.” Ibu said.

MDP has previously said that a trustworthy atmosphere has not been established to hold talks with the government and they have to create such an atmosphere.

And Adhaalath Party said that although the government has invited the opposition parties for discussions, there is no sincerity in the invitation.
