Criminal Court has released the three Maldivian suspects who were arrested for allegedly hiring a Si Lankan sniper to assassinate President Abdulla Yameen.
Police media official informed “Sun” on Sunday that the court had ruled that they found no viable reason to keep them under police custody.
It is not clear at this point exactly when, the three suspects were released.
Early press statement by police said that they had found proof during the investigation that the
Sri Lankan man had been hired by some Maldivians in exchange for money to assassinate President Yameen.
The Sri Lankan man’s mother had insisted that her son was innocent. And that he had traveled to Maldives in search of a job.
She said that she had shared information on the Sri Lankan agent who had arranged her son’s travel to Maldives, as well as the Maldivian who had promised her son a job.
