Diving boat wrecks on Gemanafushi reef

A diving boat wrecked on G. A. Gemanafushi reef on Saturday evening.

According to Gemanafushi Island Council, the Hadahaa Resort diving boat, carrying tourists wrecked on Gemanafushi reef due to strong currents.

Director of Gemanafushi Council, Mohamed Shiyam informed “Sun” that the boat had been carrying eight tourists, but that everyone had been dressed in diving gear and had jumped off before the boat wrecked on the reef.

Tourists onboard the boat were from China and Italy, and suffered no harm in the incident.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and citizens from Gemanafushi and Nilandhoo are trying to get the 45 – 50 foot boat off the reef with no luck yet.
