Imran to be sentenced on Tuesday

Adhaalath Party leader Abdulla Imran is to be sentenced in the terror trial against him on Tuesday.

Judge presiding over the case, Judge Abdul Baari Yoosuf said during Monday’s hearing that Imran would be sentenced on Tuesday.

State prosecutors have accused Imran of inciting violence through his speech during opposition protest on May 1, 2015 which caused harm to police officers and public property.

Imran has denied the charge against him.

State has presented a video clip of his speech during the rally, a video clip of a truck breaking through police barricades, and a video clip of a demonstrator attacking a police officer.
