Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) has started building asphalt roads in G. Dh. Thinadhoo.
Vice President of Thinadhoo Island Council, Ibrahim Assad spoke to “Sun” on Sunday and said that MRDC started off with converting Thinadhoo main road into an asphalt road two, three days back. MRDC has already covered 200 meters of Thinadhoo main road with asphalt.
“The work before this was to level the roads to cover them with asphalt. It has been two, three days since work began on covering the roads with asphalt,” said Assad.
Assad said that it was previously planned to complete covering the roads with asphalt before the academic new year 2016 began. But that some issues that arose delayed the project.
“We want asphalt roads to be built as soon as possible. The actual date of completion has passed,” he said.
Assad said that the new date of completion was June 30.
