MDP condemns the arrest of Maamigili Magistrate

Opposition MDP has condemned the arrest of the Maamigili Magistrate after the Police declared that the court order by the Magistrate Court of Maamigili to arrest President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in relation to the corruption of MMPRC was bogus.

The judge at Maamigili Magistrate Court, Ahmed Nihan was arrested in the case.

MPD issued a press release today saying that this was the first time in Maldives that the judge was openly arrested by the government for the decision he made on a case.

And the statement said that the Police declaring that the court order was bogus without a ruling from an upper court questions President Yameen’s words on respecting the decisions made by the courts.
