Bari appointed to run Criminal Court

Judge Abdul Bari Yousuf has been temporarily appointed as the Chief Judge at the Criminal Court.

Media Official of the Criminal Court, Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that Bari was appointed to the position when Judge Abdulla Mohamed went on leave.

It is unclear how long Judge Abdulla would be on leave.

Judge Bari is among the candidates who applied to be a judge at the High Court. He has been a judge for over eight years.

Within the duration of the leave the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court went on last year, a trial proceeding were conducted against the Ex-President Nasheed and the former Defence Minister Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim and they both were sentenced to prison.
