Fee to be taken from construction waste

Waste Management Corporation (WMC) has said that a fee would be taken from all construction and demolition waste starting next Monday.

WMC released a statement in which it said that they were working on improving the efficiency of waste management in the capital city and provide structure to the work.

And that construction and demolition waste transported to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Area in vehicles would be charged a fee, starting February 15.

WMC said that fee would be charged based on tonnage of waste carried on vehicles. And that MVR 200 would be charged for each ton.

The corporation said that they were working on finding ways to manage the waste safely.
