Gaadhookolu to be shut down to construct bridge

Transportation Authority has said that Gaadhookolu – the channel between Male’ and Hulhumale’ would be shut down from February 20, now that work on Male-Hulhule Bridge has started.

Transport Authority released a statement announcing that not sea vessels would be allowed to travel through Gaadhookolu, and that anyone who did, would be fined.

Boduthakurufaanu Magu – from Tascaloosa to northwest corner of Dharubaaruge; and Ameenee Magu – from north to northwest corner of Moonlight Hingun has been shut down for construction of the bridge.

Construction on the 1.39 kilometer bridge is to be completed within 30 months. And will be opened in 2018.
