Case against Shumba Gong sent to PG for prosecution

Case against close ally of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, Ahmed Ashraf (Shumba Gong) from Lh. Hinnavaru has been sent to Prosecutor General’s Office for prosecution.

“Sun” has been informed that the case was sent to PG Office on Monday.

He is suspected of threatening others, but no details regarding the charges against him are known at this point.

He was arrested from Sri Lanka on November 1, 2015 in an operation conducted through collaboration between Maldives and Sri Lankan police.

Shumba Gong was very outspoken in the world of social media and a staunch supporter of Adeeb.

Shumba had posted a myriad of tweets criticizing the government after Adeeb’s arrest.

He is still under police custody.
