Ziyadha’s postmortem report: Numerous injuries

Postmortem report on Ziyadha Naeem from G. Dh. Thinadhoo – who succumbed to injuries after violent sexual assault from her husband – notes that she had numerous injuries on different parts of her body.

Police released a statement announcing that it was noted in preliminary postmortem report that Ziyadha had had numerous injuries including on her elbows and a side of her head as well as the back of her head.

It was also noted in the report that she was hemorrhaging into different organs inside her body, and that it was most likely that her death was a result of brain hemorrhage.

Deputy Head of Crime Investigation Command, Chief Superintendent Mohamed Riyaz said a complete postmortem would be prepared after toxicology report and tests on samples taken for additional analysis.

Police had previously been investigating the case as a sex crime, but are now investigating it as a murder case.

Ziyada’s husband Ibrahim Shah, 40, has been arrested and now faces manslaughter charges.
