President: Regional countries can work together to stop terrorism

President Abdulla Yameen said on Thursday that countries in South East Asian region can work together to stop terrorism.

He made the statement during meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake who are currently in Maldives on an official visit.

President Yameen, Minister Samaraweera and Minister Karunanayake discussed the bilateral relations between the countries and focused on areas and issues for further cooperation including the fight against terrorism.

Minister Samaraweera, during the meeting, thanked President Yameen for the invitation to visit Maldives and assured him that the Sri Lankan government would work towards further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries.

The meeting was held at President’s Office and was attended by Maldivian Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon. Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and President’s Office Under Secretary Mohamed Naseer.
