The former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor has been given 15 days by the Criminal Court to appoint a lawyer in the charge of terrorism against him.
At the hearing today, Adheeb requested a 30-day period to appoint a lawyer.
But the Head Judge on the Bench, Judge Muhuthaaz said that 30 days is a long time but a period of 15 days would be given. And the Judge said that Adheeb have been informed about hiring a lawyer previously in the case as well.
Adheeb said that it is difficult to appoint a lawyer with the document of the charges alone and need more documents related to the case.
Prosecutor Adam Arif said that the state have no problem sharing Adheeb’s statement to the investigation.
He said that the other documents that can be share would be done so within a week or so and most of the remaining documents are closed documents.
The Judges on the Bench for Adheeb’s case are Judge Muhuthaaz Fahumee, Judge Ahmed Rasheed and Judge Saeed Ibrahim.
The judges ended the hearing after scheduling the next hearing on 15 February at 2 p.m.
