Adeeb terror trial on Sunday

The terrorism trial against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor for possession of an illegal firearm has been scheduled for Sunday.

The first hearing in the trial will be held at Criminal Court at 2 pm on Sunday.

The judges presiding over the case will be Judge Muhuthaz Muhsin, Judge Ahmed Rasheed and Judge Saeed Ibrahim.

Head of Criminal Investigation Department, Chief Superintendent of Police Hamdhoon Rasheed told “Sun” that police has obtained witness testimony that Adeeb possessed the pistol and kept it at him apartment.

A police official spoke to “Sun” and said that Adeeb had kept the pistol during and earlier period of time, and that the witnesses had not reported it to police due to the political situation in the country during that time.

Adeeb had been a powerful pillar within President Abdulla Yameen’s Cabinet, but now also stands accused of being involved in the explosion from inside presidential speedboat “Finifenma”.
