2 arrested in connection with Zuha’s death

Two people were arrested Friday night from the house H. Droomge, frequented by Hawwa Zuha, 23, from L. Gan – found dead on the street - was staying in, in Male’.

A women and man were arrested from H. Droomge. “Sun” has been informed that another suspect had been arrested earlier in connection with the case – bringing the total number of arrests in this case so far to three.

The man and woman arrested Friday nights were the two people who gave their interviews to “Sun” on Thursday night regarding Zuha’s death.

Police started operating in the area surrounding H. Droomge at approximately 1 am and left the area at around 2:45 am.

Police have been unavailable for comment regarding the arrests.

A source who lives in a house situated in H. Laaluge lane – where Zuha was found dead – said that it had been only recently that Zuha started appearing near that area, and that she was often spotted entering and leaving H. Droomge situated on Dhoohimeri Goalhi.

The woman arrested Friday night told “Sun” that she visited H. Droomge with a female friend, but that she did not live there.

A neighbor told “Sun” that Zuha lived with a man from H. Droomge. A drug addict. The neighbor said that they were often seen spending time together.

Zuha was discovered dead by Abdulla Haleem who lives in H. Laaluge. He said that he called the police as soon as she say the woman lying on the ground.

Doctors have said that Zuha had not died a natural death, and police have said that investigation into the case so far had led then to strongly suspect Zuha had been murdered.

Police are currently holding discussions with relevant authorities to make necessary arrangements to send Zuha’s body abroad for postmortem.

Zuha’s mother, Naeema Mohamed told “Sun” that he daughter had been strangled to death judging from the bruising on her neck, and that she also had the bruising on her upper thigh, with the print of fingers visible.

Zuha is a recovering drug addict who came to Male’ for treatment.
