Judge Abdulla Didi appointed as the Chief Judge of High Court via anonymous vote

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed the High Court Judge Abdulla Didi as the Chief Judge of High Court.

JSC said today said that the decision was made as per the counsel from the Counsel Committee in Appointing Judges.

The Commission said that Judge Abdulla Didi was appointed after an anonymous vote at the Commission today following interviews of the candidates who applied for the position.

The JSC did not reveal the candidates to the position aside from Judge Abdulla Didi.

Judge Abdulla Didi was at the Criminal Court until his transfer to the High Court last June.

The position of Chief Judge at the High Court has been officially vacant since 2013. But the position was temporarily tasked to High Court Judge, Ali Sameer.
