H.dh Nolhivaram Island Council President Hassan Thaufeeq has resigned.
He handed in his resignation on Thursday.
Speaking to “Sun”, Thaufeeq said that he had handed in his resignation as council president as he needed to travel abroad, and didn’t want any disruptions to council work during his absence.
“There’s not much of a problem. I need to go out of the country and the vice president of council is sick and in Male’ right now. So if someone else were to fill the position then there wouldn’t be any disruptions to council work, isn’t that so,” said Thaufeeq.
Nolhivaram council is made up of three Progressive Party of Maldives members and two Maldivian Democratic Party members.
