Woman in ICU due to sexually abusive spouse

A woman from G.Dh. Atoll has been admitted at the ICU of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) following domestic and sexual abuse from the husband.

A person who wishes to remain anonymous told Sun Media that the woman was first treated at the G.Dh. Thinadhoo Regional Hospital and was transferred to IGMH after the doctors advised to seek further treatment.

The person said that the doctors have not authorized to leave abroad due to her condition and seriousness of her injuries. “Still in IC, not even conscious.” The person said.

The person that talked to Sun Media said that the woman has been staying with her family after she left the husband following a problem between the two.

Sources say that the family did not report the abuse to the Police. Police said that they are investigating a domestic abuse case reported around 11:20 a.m. today by the Family Protection Authority.
