Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dunya Maumoon has met with Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Discussions at the meeting held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, were focused on strengthening bilateral relations.
Last week, Dunya urged not to allow any third country influence the relations between Maldives and Sri Lanka. She said that there have been suggestions in the Maldives media that some countries were applying pressure on the Sri Lankan government to publicly express concerns about the Maldives.
In an interview that followed, Dunya told Sri Lankan paper The island that there were a range of agreements between Maldives and Sri Lanka where the Health and Education Ministries of the Maldives were discussing with their Sri Lankan counterparts, ways to further expand cooperation in these areas.
She said that the two countries also work closely together in tourism, and the Maldivian High Commission in Colombo was working to expand cultural cooperation.
