MRI scanning service begins at IGMH

MRI scanning service has resumed at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after resolving the technical issues with the machine.

IGMH said that there were 300 people in queue when the MRI services resumed on Saturday.

CEO of the hospital, Faruhath Shaheer told Sun Media today that the MRI scanning service is being provided to all those who noted their names for the service. He said that 10 - 15 people are receiving the service per day at the hospital and when the technical staff get familiar with providing the service, that number would increase in the future.

Faruhath said that the number of people requesting the MRI service is increasing since it is covered by Aasandha.

“What happens in this is, when the MRI service begins at a Government hospital, and this place is 100 percent Aasandha covered place, the number of people who seek the service is more. When the current customers are over people would come again. So the queue won’t be small for the people coming to get our service.” Faruhath said.

He said that the service was delayed due to a humidity issue with the machine and said that a small board on the machine had to be ordered from abroad after an issue during the calibration and testing.

The MRI scanning was first introduced at IGMH on 11 November.
