A man who was released for rehabilitation after he admitted to drug use has been arrested with a number of alcohol bottles.
The 34-year-old man was arrested by officers on patrol after being suspected of being under the influence. Police said that total of 21 alcohol bottles were found in the man’s room.
Police did not release any further information on the man.
The man has a record with the Police for threatening Police with a sharp weapon, violence, drug related charges and attempted suicide.
After a person admits to drug use in court, that person is ordered into the rehabilitation program by the Drug Court. The rehabilitation program is conducted at the rehabilitation center and in the general public.
Police said that the man that was arrested was to complete the rehabilitation program as part of the society.
Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service is investigating the case further.
