Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office) has decided to drop the charges against the former Minister of the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu).
An Official from the PG Office told Sun Media today that the decision to drop the charges was made due to lack of evidence to prove that Mundhu used influence of his position to profit someone else.
“PG Office has decided not to press charges against Mohamed Hussain Shareef for using his influence of position to benefit some else due to lack of evidence.” The official said.
The Anti-Corruption Commission sent the case to PG Office to prosecute Mundhu for awarding the bid of the President’s 50th Independence Day Banquet to New Port which could allow for corruption.
