Dr. Khetrapal Singh: Maldives is an example to the other countries in the region

World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for South-East Asia, Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh has said that the Maldives is a shining example for other countries in the region.

Speaking at the function held today to celebrate 50 years as member of WHO, Dr. Khetrapal Singh said that every achievement the Maldives have attained in the health sector is through taking every step with wisdom.

Highlighting the achievements in the health sector, Dr. Khetrapal Singh said that the Maldives have completely stopped the transmission of Polio and Malaria in the country and is very close to stopping Filarial. And there is no record of a Measles and Rubella patient in the country since 2010. Dr. Khetrapal Singh also noted that the Maldives have achieved all but three of the Millennium Development Goals for 2000-2015.
