Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has said that regardless of the development direction of the country the religious bases must be maintained.
Speaking at award ceremony of the MVR 100,000 Quran Recitation competition by the MP for the Dhiddhoo constituency, Abdul-Latheef Mohamed, Minister Saeed while the Government is working to develop the education system, the basis of that system is the Islamic faith.
“With development, no matter the country’s direction of development, we should not be unfamiliar with these bases of the Islamic religion.” Minister Saeed said last night. “A heart that is distanced from or unfamiliar with knowledge, even if it actually alive, a dying heart.”
Noting that President Yamin is doing extensive work to structure the education system within the Islamic bases, Minister Saeed said that President Yamin has established a policy to educate all Maldivians in their homes.
Minister Saeed expressed his gratitude to the President Yamin, the Education Ministry and the Islamic Ministry on their work to bring the teaching of Quran into the hearts of the people.
Economic Minister Saeed said that by the end of President Yamin’s Presidency in 2018, the Maldives would reach new heights of development and that the Government is doing a lot for the development of the country. And in that work, Minister Saeed said, that the country would achieve a big success at the end of the term.
