Usfasgandu will remain under Police supervision: Police

The Police have said that Usfasgandu will remain under Police supervision until a ruling is issued by Civil Court to hand over Usfasgandu to a particular group, following the case filed by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in this regard.

A statement released by the Police last night said that all work to dismantle Usfasgandu was halted as soon as the court issued its temporary order, however a large area had already been dismantled when the order was issued.

Police said that some of the dismantled items have been returned to the area, and Usfasgandu is closed under article 10 of the Police Act as a result of ongoing investigations of criminal offences having been conducted in the area.

“As investigations are ongoing of criminal offences conducted at Usfasgandu, the area is closed under article 10 of the Police Act; and until the area is handed over by court to an identified group, no person shall enter Usfasgandu which is under Police supervision and closed to public.”

Police said that they commenced the search on Usfasgandu to find evidence of offences such as black magic and other crimes which were being conducted there. The search had revealed that criminal activities had taken place at Usfasgandu.
