Areef assigned as the Commissioner of Police

Acting Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Areef has been officially assigned to the vacated position of Commissioner of Police.

The position was vacated after Commissioner Hussain Waheed was dismissed from the position during the course of the investigation of the Presidential Launch explosion. Hussain Waheed was dismissed after President Abdulla Yamin said that the former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb has been influencing the Police.

Deputy Commissioner Areef was assigned as the acting Commissioner of Police after Hussain Waheed was dismissed from the position.
