A man who smuggled drugs to H.A. Ihavandhoo has been fined with MVR 100,000 and sentenced to life in prison.
The Criminal Court sentenced Mohamed Imyan (H.A. Ihavandhoo) to life on 22 November.
He was sentenced after he was found guilty of smuggling drugs to Ihavandhoo on the boat Addana (shield) on 22 February 2013.
The sentence from the Criminal Court said that witness testimonies proved that two film canisters of drugs were found in the pocket of his shorts once he we was searched after he got off the boat Addana.
Criminal Court also ordered to complete the payment of MVR 100,000 to the court in one month.
