“Loniziyaaraikolhu” which is just south of the Surf Point, has been closed off for vehicles to begin the construction of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.

A statement issued by the Transport Authority said that Boduthakurufaanu Magu has been closed off from Tuscaloosa through Raalhugandu all the way up to the South East corner of Dharubaaruge. And Ameenee Magu will be closed from the East side up to the South East corner of Moonlight Hingun.

Instead of going east to Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Hithgas Magu, now, traffic is diverted North on Bodufungandu Magu.

While the bridge project is to begin this month, the project has been officially awarded to CCCC Second Harbor Engineering and their Project Management team has arrived in the Maldives.

The Housing Ministry said that the site for the Bridge construction is set to the “Adi” Park. And land would be given to the contractor from Hulhulé and Hulhumalé for the project.

The 1.39 kilometer bridge is agreed to be completed in 30 months. And so the project is expected to be complete by 2018.
