A regional workshop is under way at Mookai Hotel in Malé on ‘Energy-Based Livelihoods Contributing to Economic Empowerment of the Marginalized Sectors and Women’.
The two-day meeting is held for officials representing energy sectors of South Asian Association Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries.
Minister of State for Environment and Energy Abdul Matheen said that the discussion would be focused on empowerment of women in the field of energy, whether women need energy for economic development, and the sources of energy available to women.
Discussions will also be held on changing policies and putting together new regulations in this area.
The workshop is attended by officials from Maldives representing the Ministry of Environment and Energy, State Electric Company (STELCO), and Fenaka Corporation.
