Maldives has become the first country to sign the International Solar Alliance (ISA), initiated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and President of France Francois Hollande.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldivian government by Minister of State for Environment and Energy Abdulla Majeed, at the margins of the ongoing 21st session of Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris, France.
India has pledged $30 million for the ISA, a global solar alliance of 122 countries.
The COP21 is held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015.
