Man arrested in attempt to flee with stolen cigarette boxes

A man has been arrested in H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi for stealing cigarette boxes after breaking into a shop.

Police said that they arrested a 20-year-old local man.

The man was spotted by patrol officers while he was stealing from the shop after breaking in by breaking the glass. Police said that the man attempted to flee after he spotted the Police.

Police said that the man was arrested near his residence past midnight on Monday.

The man is now being treated at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for the injuries he sustained while he had his hand through the glass.

Police said that the man has a record with the Police for theft and violence with a weapon.

Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court has extended the man’s remand by 15 days.
