Audit Office has said that the special audit of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporations would be complete by January, 2016.
Assistant Auditor General Mohamed Hussein told “Sun” on Thursday that it was “strongly” predicted that the special audit of MMPRC would be complete by early January.
Government has asked Audit Office to make a special audit of MMPRC from November 17, 2013 to date.
Auditor General Hassan Ziyath is older brother of Abdulla Ziyath – who was Managing Director of MMPRC during that period, and now stands accused of corruption.
AG Ziyath has said that he would play no part in the special audit of MMPRC, and that the whole audit would be overseen by Assistant Auditor General Aiman Ibrahim.
“This special audit will be free of influence. I will be in the sidelines during this audit,” said AG Ziyath.
MMPRC has been hit by scandal which includes allegations of corruption and the issue of the container of fireworks imported illegally.
