The Foreign Ministry has previously accused the powerful countries in the Commonwealth of harming the Maldives by placing the country on the CMAG agenda. Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon said that such efforts would not be successful.
Maldives was on the CMAG agenda due to the uncertainty created with the fall of President Nasheed’s presidency on 7 February 2012. And since then has been excluded from the agenda after a joint investigation of the incident with the Commonwealth.
