The death sentence of one of the two suspects in murder of Noor Adam Hasanfulhu - who was knifed near Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital – has gone through to appeal process automatically.
Juvenile Court said that the sentence had gone through to the appeal process automatically after the murder convict failed to appeal his sentence within the time period provided. Adding that all documents related to the case had been sent to Department of Judicial Administration before it will make its way to High Court.
A circular issued by Supreme Court said that if a sentence wasn’t appealed within the given time window, the court involved would have to send all pertaining documents to High Court.
The sentences that go through to appeal automatically are sentences that Supreme Court has to look into before the sentence is enforced. This is the first sentence to go through to appeal automatically.
Noor succumbed to his injuries and died after he was knifed by some people on motorbikes on March 29 at approximately 1:42 am while he – on his foot – reached the motorbikes parked in front of the emergency gate of IGMH.
The under-age suspect who received the death sentence was convicted after four people testified in court to having seen him knife Noor in the left side of his upper body.
Noor’s death summary said that he had died after being knifed of the left side of his upper body as the knife his a major artery which led to massive blood loss, stopped blood flow in his body, led to blood leaking into his lungs resulting in his body going into shock, all eventually resulting in death after he couldn’t breathe.
Charges against the second juvenile suspect could not be proven.
Trial on two other suspects in Noor’s murder is still ongoing.
