The case of corruption involved in Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) leasing islands for development as tourist resorts to international companies and then misusing the money has been sent to Prosecutor General’s Office with former Vice
President Ahmed Adeeb and former MMPRC Managing Director Abdulla Ziyath the main suspects.
Public prosecutor Adam Arif informed “Sun” on that the case had been sent to PG office by police on Monday.
“Maldives Police Service sent the said case to PG Office today. PG office is reviewing the case,” he said.
Police information officer Ismail Ali said on Monday that cases related to MMPRC were being sent to PG Office as soon as investigation was complete.
Though this is the first time Ziyath is being prosecuted, two other charges have already been pressed against Adeeb.
The other two charges being pressed against Adeeb are; keeping a pistol and bribing police intelligence officers.
