Majlis approves Bisam to be appointed as PG

People’s Majlis on Monday gave approval for Aishath Bisam to be appointed to the position of Prosecutor General.

Bisam gained Majlis approval with 66 votes, while only two voted against giving her the thumbs up.

President Abdulla Yameen sent the letter asking for Majlis approval to appoint Bisam to the position of PG on Sunday.

Opportunity to apply for the position was opened up on November 10, but only Bisam applied for the position.

The position opened up after a vote of no confidence which ousted former PG, Muhthaz Muhsin.

He was ousted after allegations came up that he had divulged confidential information and that

he had made deals with criminals.
