Bisham

Approval for the new candidate for the Prosecutor General (PG), Aishath Bisham has been presented to the Parliament Committee for Independent Institutes.

President Abdulla Yamin has sent a letter to the Parliament requesting the Parliament’s decision on the name. The approval for the name was sent to the Parliament after presenting the President’s letter at the floor.

Application for the Prosecutor General’s position was opened on 10 November. Bisham was the only applicant.

The position of the Prosecutor General was vacated after a vote of no confidence was taken against PG Muhuthaz Muhusin. He was dismissed for sharing information received from his position with irrelevant parties and working for certain benefits by discussing cases with those who are under suspicion.
