Red notice issued to find Allaam

An Interpol red notice has been issued to find Mohamed Allaam Latheef (M. Cessna) in relation to the firearms found in the lagoon of B. Hibalhidhoo.

The charges against Allaam on the Interpol website are threatening catastrophe, criminal property damage, use of dangerous weapon during an offence, trafficking, manufacture, sale or possession of catastrophic agents or firearms, terrorism and corruption.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Nawaz said that the investigation has received information that Allaam is related to the firearms found in B. Hibalhidhoo.

“Police investigation has received information that says that these weapons and Mohamed Allaam Latheef are related. Mohamed Allaam Latheef is currently abroad. The Police are now working to find him.” Assistant Commissioner Nawaz said.

While a number of firearms were found in the lagoon of B. Hibalhidhoo, some of the firearms were from the MNDF armory.

Assistant Commissioner Nawaz said that the island of Hibalhidhoo was leased to Business Maldives Private Limited to develop a resort.
